Care & Maintenance
Maintenance of Rafael Table Tops
Cleaning lacquer isn’t done in the same way as other types of finishes. Here are a few tips to help you maintain that wonderful shine on your solid wood table top.
- The best way to clean a Rafael table top is to use a mild soap and warm water. A mix of one teaspoon of soap to 4 litres of water is sufficient. Wring your cloth out so it’s only damp, (not dripping wet). Once it’s cleaned, take a soft dry cloth and wipe any excess water away. Remember to make sure the cloth has no foreign material that can scratch the surface.
- Go easy on the spray polish. Over time, polish residue dulls wood. Many people reach for the spray simply because they love that just-polished smell. If that’s you, get an air freshener and give your wood a break.
- Avoid using any cleaner that has bleach or ammonia in it that can damage the lacquer coating.
